Oyster Bay, NY (February 2, 2022)—The Long Island Water Conference (LIWC) has recently elected Robert McEvoy, the Chairman of the Oyster Bay Water District (OBWD), to the Board of Directors as its Secretary for 2022. McEvoy has served as a Commissioner for the OBWD since 2002, and had been with the Town of Oyster Bay from 1981-2016—with the last five years of his career serving as the Town’s comptroller. He will assist his fellow board members; Chairman Kevin Durk of Suffolk County Water Authority, Vice Chairman John Kilpatrick of New York American Water, and 2nd Vice Chairman Jason Belle of West Hempstead Water District in ensuring Long Island’s water providers continue to serve the highest quality water to its residents.

“After nearly twenty years in the water industry, this is an absolute honor to be named to the Long Island Water Conference Board of Directors,” said LIWC Secretary Robert McEvoy. “I look forward to working with my fellow Board members and water providers across the Island to keep our precious drinking water safe, reliable and plentiful.”

Robert McEvoy, a resident of Oyster Bay, is also currently the Treasurer for New York 811 and an active member at the New York State Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). He has previously served as President of the Nassau Suffolk Water Commissioners Association (NSWCA) in 2012. He has also been a volunteer firefighter for the Oyster Bay Fire Department since 1975, serving as Chief from 1986-1988 and as President from 1991-1992. Additionally, McEvoy was the President of the Fifth Batallion Chiefs Organization in 2003, a member of the New York State Governance Finance Officers’ Association (NYSGFOA) from 1989-2016, and has been an Adjunct Professor at LIU Post from 2014-2019.
