Schools Welcome Holiday Season

Oyster Bay Superintendent's December message is one of hope and excitement for holidays.

As the turbulent month of November comes to a close, the Oyster Bay-East Norwich School District is ushering in the season of joy.

In her December video message, Superintendent Phyllis Harrington reminded the district of the happy times to come this winter.

"November has certainly been a trying month for many," said Harrington. "But watching the signs of restoration and recovery gave us reason to celebrate. As we enter this holiday season, let us all remember that what matters most is our abiity to work together and maintain a sense of resiliency."

  • Annual student council toy drive, held Dec. 3-14.
  • The beginning of the winter sports season with the Tom Robinson Basketball Tournament.
  • Winter concert series.
  • Board of Education business meeting Dec. 18.
  • Holiday recess Dec. 24-Jan. 1, with schools reopening Jan. 2.
  • Revised academic calendar to make up for lost instructional days after Hurricane Sandy.
