Second Kayak Conservation Cruise Set For Sept. 13

Friends of the Bay and the WaterFront Center have partnered to offer the guided tour.

Friends of the Bay and The WaterFront Center are partnering once again to offer another Kayak Conservation Cruise on Sunday, September 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. a.m. (Rain date: September 19). This time participants will explore Mill Neck Creek.

Kayakers will meet at West Harbor Beach in Bayville to launch for a guided tour lasting approximately two hours. Cameron Jenness, Education Director from The WaterFront Center, and author and historian Bill Bleyer, president of Friends of the Bay, will be on hand to point out areas of natural and historical interest along the way.

Special Event Pricing is $55 for a single kayak rental for two hours and $65 for a double kayak rental for two hours. Bring Your Own Kayak registration fee is $20. ($10 for children 15 and under.) Proceeds from the event will be split between the two organizations to help with their outreach programs.

Those with their own watercraft can park and launch at West Harbor Beach.

The number of registrants will be limited because of COVID-19 and all participants must wear a mask on shore. Participants can come between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. to sign in and get on the water to avoid social distancing issues.

We will be raffling off a West Marine adjustable paddle. Everyone who registers will be automatically entered to win.
