Shooting Threat Over Late Tax Payment In Town of Oyster Bay: Police
BREAKING: The man became enraged after he was penalized with a late charge for a tax payment, police say.
A man threatened to go to the Town of Oyster Bay billing department and "shoot people" on Wednesday after he became enraged over a late tax payment charge, police say.
According to authorities, Athanasios Athanasiou, 73, of Farmingdale, called the billing department, located at 74 Audrey Ave. in Oyster Bay, and expressed his anger over being penalized with a late charge for a tax payment that was not made on time at 10:50 a.m.
Police say he threatened to "Come there and shoot people."

The billing department notified the police of the threat after the call ended.
Athanasiou was located at his residence a short time later and was placed under arrest. He was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment and was released on an appearance ticket. He is due back in First District Court in Hempstead on Friday, April 14.
