SUNY Old Westbury Selected as 'Headquarter Station' for World College Radio Day
OWWR, SUNY College at Old Westbury's radio station, to celebrate 5th Annual World College Radio Day on Friday, October 2, 2015
OWWR Old Westbury Web Radio, SUNY Old Westbury’s campus radio station, will celebrate World College Radio Day on Friday, October 2, 2015 with an exciting line-up of programming. This year, OWWR has been named “New York’s Headquarter College Radio Station” among more than 50 participating stations.
OWWR invites listeners from across campus and around the world to participate, as it will feature special music and talk programs from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. to commemorate College Radio Day and promote sister-stations worldwide. The annual event - now in its fifth year - seeks to raise a greater international awareness of the many college and high school radio stations that operate around the world by encouraging listenership.
“We are very excited that the Northeast Regional Director for College Radio Day selected us as New York’s headquarter station,” said Joe Manfredi, OWWR manager. “To prepare for this honor for October 2nd, we created a team that executed research through the Federal Communications Commission to identify licensed educational radio stations, and our student-staff reached out to fellow New York stations to educate and register them for the movement.”
