Supermarket Thief Targeted 9 Stores in Nassau County: Police

The man used fraudulent credit cards to make thousands of dollars worth of illegal purchases, police say.

A man who stole thousands of dollars worth of merchandise and gift cards from nine different Shop & Stop locations across Nassau County was arrested Wednesday, police say.

According to authorities, Joshua Slew, 23, of Brooklyn, used fraudulent credit cards to steal the items from the Stop & Shop locations, causing the company a loss of more than $6,000.

Authorities were able identify Slew through photos taken at the scene during the time of the thefts, police say.

Police did not specify which Stop & Shop locations were affected by the thefts.

Slew was charged with third-degree grand larceny and will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
