Village of Bayville Announces New Economic Development Working Group

Bayville Residents Encouraged to Volunteer

Bayville, New York (August 4, 2015) – At a recent Board meeting, the Village of Bayville announced the formation of a volunteer-based Economic Development Working Group to work with the Board on how to use vacant land and promote new business. This new initiative seeks to aid Bayville’s economy by assisting existing businesses, attracting new businesses to establish local storefronts and making sure that the Village’s land resources are being put to the best possible use.

“This new initiative is an inclusive avenue for soliciting resident input into the future development of the Village of Bayville,” said Mayor Paul Rupp. “Along with several other villages in Nassau County, Bayville has a number of vacant storefronts and several parcels of vacant land that are currently not benefiting residents in any way. The goal for this working group is to explore the economic viability of changing that.”

Business owners, residents and other taxpayers may volunteer to join the group by contacting Village Hall at (516) 628-1439, or by visiting Village Hall at 34 School St, Bayville, NY 11709. Volunteers do not need prior experience in business or real estate, but they will be expected to devote at least two hours, once per month, to working group responsibilities.

“The new Economic Development Working Group’s primary purpose is to benefit all residents by strengthening existing businesses in Bayville,” said Deputy Mayor Joseph Russo. “Creating a group to provide input on how best to use Bayville’s land resources and assist both established and new businesses is evidence of the Board’s priority to make government more transparent and democratic.”
