OYSTER BAY, NY — Without community leaders, Oyster Bay wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.

This submission comes from Sandra Coudert Graham, an Oyster Bay reader who nominated Meredith Maus.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

For the last 10-plus years, Meredith has led the OBMSA with a vision to help revitalize and beautify the historic hamlet of downtown Oyster Bay. During that time, Oyster Bay has flourished. With her help, new potential businesses can find the right space for their business, get help with permitting, developing a business plan, as well as receiving grants to help with storefront facade work and sign design and production … and so much more. Obmsa also promotes and supports existing businesses and overseas the seasonal hanging flower baskets, harvest decor and holiday wreaths and tree lighting. OBMSA and Meredith are a fixture in everyday life and have worked tirelessly to make Oyster Bay the vibrant town it is today.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

She is bright, persistent and committed to her job and the community.
