NYC City Council Election District 39 Results: Brad Lander Wins

The incumbent will serve Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Gowanus, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace and Kensington for another four years.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — City Councilman Brad Lander, the only candidate on the ballot to represent District 39, easily cruised to re-election on Tuesday.

Lander will represent Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Gowanus, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace and Kensington (full district map here) for a third and final four-year term on the council.

"So deeply grateful for all of your support," Lander said on Twitter just after polls closed on Tuesday night. "Looking forward to serving you to the best of my ability for the next four years @NYCCouncil."

New Yorkers took to the polls on Tuesday in the general election for citywide positions including mayor, comptroller and public advocate.

For mayor, Democrat Bill de Blasio is running against Republican Nicole Malliotakis and independents Bo Dietl and Sal Albanese.

Public Advocate Tish James is facing Republican Juan Carlos Polanco, Michael O'Reilly and James Lane. Comptroller Scott Stringer is up against Republican Michael Faulkner, Julia Willebrand and Alex Merced.
