BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — Brooklyn park-goers can now quench their thirst in the freezing cold, officials announced.
Four freeze-resistant water fountains were unveiled in Prospect Park during one of the coldest Thanksgivings in recent history, according to a press release from the Prospect Park Alliance.
City Council Member Brad Lander and Prospect Park Alliance President Sue Donoghue took inaugural gulps from one new lakeshore fountain moments before runners dashed off for the annual Turkey Trot.
The four fountains on Prospect Park Drive cost $175,000 and were funded through a District 39 participatory budgeting initiative, park officials said.
