Another Anti-Trump 'No Kings' Rally Planned In Park Slope

PARK SLOPE, NY — Another wave of “No Kings” protests against President Donald Trump is set to sweep the nation this weekend, with a rally planned right here in Park Slope.

More than five million people took part in thousands of events nationwide during the first wave of protests in June, according to an ACLU estimate.

Volunteers behind the “No Kings” movement are calling for nationwide nonviolent protests on Saturday, Oct. 18, with dozens of national advocacy groups backing the rallies as partners. Across the country, local community members and advocacy groups are organizing independent demonstrations, including a Park Slope rally from noon to 2 p.m.

Organizers with NoKings.org say protesters are returning to the streets this weekend to stand against what they call an attack on democracy.

“In June, millions of everyday Americans from every walk of life peacefully took to the streets and declared with one voice: No Kings. The world saw the power of the people, and President Trump’s attempt at a coronation collapsed under the strength of a movement rising against his abuses of power. Now, he’s doubling down – sending militarized agents into our communities, silencing voters, and handing billionaires giveaways while families struggle. This isn’t just politics. It’s democracy versus dictatorship. And together, we’re choosing democracy.”

In Park Slope, the demonstration will kick off at Grand Army Plaza, located at the corner of Prospect Park West and Grand Army Plaza. The event is open to the public. Register here to join: https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/849618/.

“A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action,” organizers add. “We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events."

Attendees are advised not to bring any weapons to the events, including those that are legally permitted.
