BK's Only All-Women Fitness Bootcamp Finds Home In Park Slope
The new business faced the threat of closing down a few months ago, but found a permanent space on 6th Avenue.
PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN â A new fitness business that was facing the threat of closing down for good just a few months ago has found a permanent home in Park Slope, owners said this week.
Danielle Edwards, owner of The New Body Project, told Patch that her exercise company has moved into the second floor at 82 6th Avenue, the same month that Edwards would have had to close down her business had she not found a permanent location. Just months before, Edwards was facing the threat of losing her new business when the time was running out at a temporary location she was renting.
"We've been truly blessed," Edwards said of the new space. "Compared to where we were before â we went from holes in the ceiling to the Taj Mahal."

The new space is a window-filled spot where the Brooklyn Yoga School used to be. The yoga school recently closed down because it couldn't afford to stay in the space with its by-donation model, Edwards said.
Financial troubles was also the reason Edwards was facing closing down her business. The mother of two was working to raise $60,000 online to stay open.

She raised several hundred dollars with the crowdfunding campaign, Edwards said, but it was ultimately a decision to sell a home that she had bought when she was 23 years old that gave her the money to open up the new space.
"I made a huge sacrifice, but it paid off," she said.
Since moving in, the clientele for The New Body Project has almost doubled thanks to people noticing the studio when walking the streets nearby, she added. Her longtime clients have also taken a liking to the new spot.
"They are so excited and elated to be at the new space, she said. "We are up and running and open for business and we want everybody to stop in."
