PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Mayor Bill de Blasio's gym in Park Slope was evacuated Wednesday morning after a caller threatened to blow up the YMCA, police said.

Police said they got a 911 call just before 7:30 a.m. that there had been an "explosive device threat" made to the Park Slope Armory YMCA on 15th Street.

But because the caller said they would blow up the gym because "it is where the mayor works out," police decided to search the Prospect Park YMCA on 9th Street as well, since that is where de Blasio is known to work out, an NYPD spokesperson told Patch. NYPD evacuated the 9th Street gym and searched both, but didn't find any bombs.

The caller had apparently said they were going to blow up the gym because de Blasio "likes black people and is running for president,” a source told the Daily News.

No injuries were reported and the 9th Street YMCA reopened shortly after the threat.

A staffer told the News that the mayor was still able to get his workout in once the gym was cleared.

The evacuation comes just a few weeks after the 9th Street YMCA was closed down for a contamination of its drinking water. That week, the YMCA was closed for about seven days before health officials cleared it to reopen.
