The Brooklyn Bridge Will Be Closed to All Manhattan-Bound Traffic This Weekend

Chinatown. So close, yet so far.

You’ll have to take the subway — or any bridge besides the Brooklyn Bridge — if you’re trying to get to Manhattan this weekend.

The Manhattan-bound lane of the Brooklyn Bridge will be closed for 53 total hours, from Friday night at midnight to Monday morning at 5 a.m.

During this time, the New York City Department of Transportation recommends you re-route to Flatbush Avenue and take the Manhattan Bridge instead.

Come Monday, thanks to the weekend closure, the promise is that the Brooklyn Bridge’s Manhattan Approach will be fitted with a brand-new grid deck. Which may or may not be worth the hell that will be the Manhattan-bound lanes of all other East River overpasses this weekend.
