BROOKLYN, NY — For four decades Brooklynites have been gathering around the borough's backyard to ring in the New Year, and 2020 will be no different.

The 40th annual New Year's Eve Fireworks Celebration will draw thousands of people to Grand Army Plaza on Dec. 31.

Here's what you need to know to join in the festivities:

WHERE: Grand Army Plaza

WHEN: Celebrations will run from 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 until 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1

WHAT: There will be live entertainment starting off the celebration, followed by the fireworks at the stroke of midnight. The event is free and open to the public. It will go on rain or shine.

WHO: The fireworks are put on by the Prospect Park Alliance and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.

HOW: RSVP to the event on the Prospect Park Alliance's website. Subway commuters can take a 2 or 3 train to the Grand Army Plaza station or a Q train to the Seventh Avenue station.
