1/11/11 Fundraising Auction at Brooklyn Boulders

On 1/11/11 Brooklyn Boulders climbing gym will be hosting a silent auction fundraiser event to benefit the Friends of Douglass Greene Park nonprofit organization. For years the Thomas Greene Park has been neglected and left to waste away. But the FoDGP have committed to revitalizing and updating the park with a series of initiatives designed to increase the park's usability and attractiveness.

Brooklyn Boulders has partnered with this nonprofit to host a fundraiser event that will include a silent auction with over 111 items. (111 Items on 1/11/11 if you haven't been following.) The event begins at 6pm and tickets are $20 in advance ($10 for children) and $25/$15 at the door. Because we're a climbing gym all guests will be able to get on the climbing walls and have fun. The event will also feature refreshments, music, a raffle, and childcare for kids 5 and up. Your kids will be allowed to climb the walls as long as they want under the supervision of our after school Kid's League staff.

Brooklyn Boulders is located at 575 Degraw St. on the corner of Degraw and 3rd Ave. in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn. All proceeds will go towards refurbishing the adjacent Thomas Greene Park. Auction items range from restaurant gift certificates to climbing school passes to furniture and art. All of our auction items have been donated by local businesses in an effort to show community support for the upkeep of the park.

So come help us upgrade our neighborhood and have a good time doing it. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the gym or by emailing cameron@brooklynboulders.com.

We are also running an online auction leading up to the 1/11/11 event. Again, all proceeds are going to the park. The online auction can be found at Biddingforgood.com/douglassgreenepark.
