Luke Jenner is a Brooklyn-based singer, guitarist and DJ best know for his time fronting the dance-punk band The Rapture. Jenner was born in
Southern California. Growing up, he worked in many record stores, which
exposed him to all types of music genres. Upon moving to New York,
Jenner says it was then that he was exposed to dance music. The New York
music scene influenced his band's sound, which is often described as a
fusion of indie rock and disco. Jenner and The Rapture cite their early
inspirations as PIL, Television, Rocket From The Crypt, Gang Of Four and
Chrome. As their musical style shifted more towards the dance genre,
they saw Chic, The Byrds, The Happy Mondays and Timbaland as musical
influences.
