PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A man hanging from a fourth-floor window during a Park Slope fire was saved in a daring rescue by an FDNY firefighter, officials said.

Flames from the Tuesday morning blaze at 439 16th St., near Prospect Park West, cut off an escape path for the man, who is in his 20s, fire officials said.

The man crawled out of a fourth floor window and shimmied to another, where firefighters saw him dangling from the building’s side, officials said.

The precarious situation prompted a daring “roof line rescue,” in which Firefighter Patrick Gale tied onto a rope and was lowered down to the man by his compatriots.

“I assured the victim that we were coming to get, he’s going to be alright, that we were there and everything went smoothly from that,” Gale said during a news conference after the fire.

Gale said the man appeared a little panicked at first, but that gave way to gratitude once they were lowered to the ground.

The man received EMS treatment for what officials called non-life threatening injuries.

The blaze began about 6:20 a.m. in a fourth-floor apartment’s kitchen, officials said. The cause is still under investigation.
