PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Mayor Bill de Blasio won't let a report that he spends too much time at Park Slope Armory YMCA weigh him down.

Hizzoner all but called New York Post staff dumbbells for their weekend front page "Y Go to Work?" in an interview with Fox 5's Good Day New York.

"Literally can't remember an everyday New Yorker asking me about my gym time," he told Lori Stokes, before listing a long list of concerns and accomplishments. "People care about that stuff. Not this idiocy."

The Post story reviewed de Blasio's schedule and found he spends about two hours every morning at Park Slope YMCA — a visit that requires a 30-minute cross-borough drive each way. He usually arrives at the gym at 8 a.m. and gets back to his office at 10:30 a.m., the Post reported.

De Blasio, who hails from Park Slope, is no stranger to criticism related to his favored gym.

One or more disgruntled Park Slopers distributed flyers last year calling him out for supposedly not wiping down gym equipment. Another prankster last year set up a microphone outside the YMCA for de Blasio to announce his withdrawal from the presidential race, which de Blasio did instead on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

In the Fox 5 interview, de Blasio said he goes to bed around midnight and wakes up every morning at 6 a.m. He said while at the gym he's always checking email, making phone calls and taking meetings, except for a "few times" when he's on an exercise bike or treadmill.

"With all due respect to Michael Bloomberg, he would go to Bermuda for two days on the weekends and that seemed to get less controversy than me going to Brooklyn to the Y," de Blasio said in the segment.

De Blasio was late to the Fox 5 interview, which was pre-taped Monday morning after a later-than-usual gym start for the mayor, Stokes said on air after some prodding from a co-host.
