Park Slope Playlist: Musical Notes by Mark Yodice

In this local musician spotlight we highlight the music of The June Rise whose cd “...Of Raging Waters” is now available.

This spring, the original music of Brooklyn based guitarist and musical composer Mark Yodice debuted marking the launch of his second full length cd. His first, titled “June Again,” came out in 2001.

The June Rise album “…Of Raging Waters” is a compilation of instrumentals varying from the soft and sweet sounds of strings beautifully intertwined with the caress of clashing crescendos.

“We added percussion on this album and I think it really compliments the instrumentals to create a new sound that we didn’t have on the last album,” explains Yodice.

Yodice composed and arranged all of the music on “…Of Raging Waters” and in fact has been arraigning music since the young age of thirteen when he started to learn to play guitar.

“I’ve loved music from day one,” exclaims Yodice, and his passion for his art shines through each and every one of his songs. His music reflects his life’s journey and his personal experiences as a local musician; one song on the track titled “Brooklyn Sleep Prayer” is reminiscent of an up-tempo lullaby set to the beat of a bustling Brooklyn night.

“…Of Raging Waters” is a melodic seascape of emotion embodying elements of classical, folk, and jazz. The precision and timing on this album is so articulate and is unparalleled to anything currently playing on the radio.
