NOW: Flash Flood Warning Throughout Brooklyn, Manhattan

"Act quickly to protect your life."

The National Weather Service is warning of flash floods between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. today in New York County and Kings County.

A thunderstorm is already producing heavy rain across the area. One inch of rain has fallen in the last 30 minutes, according to NWS.

Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

Locations that will experience flooding include: Flatbush, Crown Heights, Lower East Side, Bensonhurst, Sheepshead Bay, Park Slope, East Village, SoHo, Brooklyn Heights and Greenpoint.

To prepare, the NWS reccomends you “move to higher ground now”and ”act quickly to save your life.”

If you’re driving, the protocol is to turn around instead of trying to make it through flooded roads. “Most flood deaths occur in vehicles,” says NWS.
