I haven't caught up with the news (yet) but my understanding is today is the day when our Mayor will "roll-out" his big news on affordable housing.
I am praying that there will be some talk of stabilizing existing apartments vs. pushing for NEW (affordable) housing.
The true reason so many are homeless in NYC, so many are displaced, so many are leaving the City is not because of a lack of NEW affordable housing but the unrelenting roll-back of any real rent stabilization in the housing that currently exists.
Please see my piece posted last week,
OPEN LETTER TO MAYOR DEBLASIO: PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT BUILDING NEW AFFORDABLE HOUSING - BRING BACK RENT STABILIZATION AND YOU WON'T NEED NEW ANYTHING!!!!
