Park Slope Man Spends $78K Of Dead People's Cash, DA Says
Fitzroy Thompson stole money from estates he managed to book cruises, buy cars and pay rent on his Park Slope pads, prosecutors said.
PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN -- A city employee who used dead people's credits cards to book cruises, buy cars and pay rent on his Park Slope pads was charged with grand larceny Wednesday, prosecutors said.
Fitzroy Thompson, 36, stands accused pocketing about $78,325 as a case manager for the Office of the Kings County Public Administrator — which handles estates of Brooklynites who die without a will — between July 2017 and April 2018, the Brooklyn District Attorney's office announced.
Thompson used his victims' credit cards and checking accounts to book a Carnival Cruise Line vacation, pay rent for his two homes, and to buy a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder, a 2016 Nissan Altima, and JetBlue airline tickets to the Bahamas, prosecutors said.

Police arrested Thompson in March after one estate executor reported that the cruise had been charged to his deceased relative’s account and Thompson resigned from his post in July, said prosecutors.
Thompson was arraigned in BRooklyn Criminal Court on Oct. 31 and charged with grand larceny, corrupting the government, scheme to defraud and identity theft, prosecutors said.

The Park Slope case manager faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted and is slated to return to court on& Jan. 9.
