Park Slope Offers Free Community Fridge For World Hunger Day

Gowanus Community Fridge and the Postmark Cafe are one of over 80 locations around New York offering a fridge full of free, fresh food.

CROWN HEIGHTS, NY — To commemorate World Hunger Day on Saturday, nonprofits City Harvest and NY Forever have collaborated with SHOWTIME to stock more than 80 community refrigerators full of free, fresh food across all five New York City boroughs.

From Oct. 11 to 16, “Comida Gratis”, Spanish for “Free Food” aims not only to feed hungry New Yorkers, but also to educate the community about food insecurity and a hunger crisis exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
