Park Slope's 'A Taste Of Fifth' Returns With Cop DJ, Speakeasy

Tickets are on sale for the annual event, which lets attendees taste offerings from more than 40 local restaurants and bars on Fifth Avenue.

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — The neighborhood's annual festival that let's attendees sample food and drink from dozens of spots along 5th Avenue is back on the menu in April at the Grand Prospect Hall.

The Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District has started selling tickets for its annual "A Taste of Fifth" event, which will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on April 10. For $60, $20 of which will be donated to charity, attendees can sample offerings from more than 40 local restaurants and bars.

This year, the organization also promises a local DJ who is a police officer with NYPD's 78th Precinct, a Speakeasy with Breuckelen Distillery cocktails and a live band, Hot Club of Flatbush.

"A Taste of Fifth features fine food and unlimited cocktails, beer and wine plus music, dancing and a chance to catch up with neighbors," organizers said.

Restaurants include new neighborhood spots like Le Succulent, a French restaurant that recently opened between 1st and 2nd, and Amy Poehler's new wine store Zula to complement returning favorites like the Prospect Bar & Grill.

Other options include Albero dei Gelati, Bogota Latin Bistro, Simple Loaf Bakery and vegan eatery V Spot, with more to be announced soon, according to the event details.

The event is sponsored by Cinch, Con Edison, Corcoran, Greenland USA, Brooklyn Cyclones, Park Slope Civic Council, Yelp and Park Slope Parents, as well as several drink sponsors.

The donated portion of tickets can be given to one of 16 local charities, including PS 118, Brooklyn Pride, CHIPS, Brooklyn Dream Factory, Old Stone House, Piper Theatre or the Imani House. In past years the event has raised as much as $15,000 for the local organizations, the business improvement district has said.
