Prospect Park Fall Activities Line-Up: What You Need To Know
It's the fall feast, haunted stroll and apple butter-making time of year in Brooklyn's backyard. Take a look at the next few month's events.

PROSPECT PARK, BROOKLYN — With the final warm days of the season wrapping up, Brooklyn's backyard is ready to become a haven for all-things fall.
The Prospect Park Alliance has announced its line-up of fall and early winter events, including everything from haunted Halloween strolls to harvest feasts. The seasonal fare will kick off Sep. 29 with the first fall harvest meal.

Featured events:
- Fall Feast at Lefferts Historic House: Sunday, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sep. 29. Free, RSVP here. The day will include fun games and activities celebrating the local harvest of vegetables planted in the Lefferts garden this spring. New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital will help prepare the bounty of vegetables for families to bring home. A related program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder will take place the same day from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. RSVP is also required here.
- Haunted Halloween Walk and Fair: From 12 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, 12–3 pm. Free, RSVP here. Thousands of families will join for encounters with zombies, werewolves, witches and other Halloween spirits on a haunted walk through the woodland Lookout Hill, ideal for families with children ages 7 to 12. All ages can enjoy a festive Halloween Fair on the Nethermead, featuring family-friendly activities, as well as sweet and savory treats from some of the city’s top food trucks. All weekend long, families can enjoy Haunted Carousel Rides and, on Sunday, Scary Stories With Tammy Hall at Lefferts Historic House.

- Pop-Up Audubon: Radical Raptors and Climate Clues: Saturdays + Sundays in September, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Zucker Natural Exploration Area, Bandshell.
- Taste of History: Apple Butter: Saturdays + Sundays in September starting September 7, 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lefferts Historic House, $3 suggested donation. Participants will help peel, cut and core apples for freshly stewed apple butter.
- Annual Tennis Tournament: Weekends, September 7–October 6 Prospect Park Tennis Center, $40+
- Saturday Volunteer Corps: Watercourse Cleanup: Saturday, September 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Boathouse, Free, RSVP required here.
- International Coastal Cleanup Day: Sunday, September 22, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Park Circle Lawn, Free, Registration Required here.
- Harvest Festival: An Event for Children with ASD: Sunday, September 29, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Lefferts Historic House, Free, Attendance is limited, and RSVP required here.
- Fall Feast: Sunday, September 29, 1 to 4 p.m. at Lefferts Historic House, Free, RSVP here.
- Rosh Hashanah in Prospect Park: Monday, September 30 + Tuesday, October 1, 12 to 4 p.m.
October:
- Capturing Shadows: Saturdays in October, 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lefferts Historic House, $3 suggested donation. Learn about the historic tradition of "capturing shadows" and make your own miniature silhouette portrait.
- It’s My Park! Day: Saturday, October 5, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lookout Hill, Free, RSVP required here. Help care for the park with brooms, shovels, rakes and trash grabbers.
- Campfire Conversation for Kids: Saturday, October 5, 6–7 pm at the Lefferts Historic House, $3 suggested donation.
- Yom Kippur in Prospect Park: Wednesday, October 9, 12 to 4 p.m. at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, Lefferts Historic House and the Carousel.
- Columbus Day in Prospect Park: Monday, October 14, 12 to 4 p.m. at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, Lefferts Historic House and the Carousel.
- Nothing About Us: Saturday, October 19, 6 to 7 p.m. at the Lefferts Historic House, Free, RSVP here. A Nothing About Us commissioned by New York Appleseed with support from Live Here, Learn Here and presented by Epic Theater Ensemble. After the performance join the cast for an informal campfire conversation to hear about the student’s experiences and further explore the themes of the play.

- Paper Quilting: Saturdays + Sundays in November, 1 to 3 p.m. at Lefferts Historic House, $3 suggested donation
- Election Day in Prospect Park: Tuesday, November 5, 12 to 4 p.m. Enjoy free nature fun at the Audubon Center, and let kids cast their own vote at Lefferts Historic House.
- Junior Volunteer Corps: Saturday, November 9, + Sunday, Nov 24, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Bandshell, Free, RSVP here.
- Veterans Day in Prospect Park: Monday, November 11, 12 to 5 p.m at the Prospect Park Audubon Center and Lefferts Historic House.
- Moliere in the Park: Wednesday, November 13 + Thursday, November 14, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Prospect Park Picnic House, Free, RSVP here. A free reading of Moliere's "The School for Wives" featuring award-winning actor Reed Birney.
December:
- Winter on a Flatbush Farm: Sunday, December 1, 1 to 3 p.m. at Lefferts Historic House, $3 suggested donation, RSVP here. Get ready for winter as they did in the 19th century farming village of Flatbush.
- Family Christmas Bird Count: Saturday, December 14 + Sunday, December 15, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Prospect Park Audubon Center, free.
- Winter Recess in Prospect Park: Thursday, December 26–Sunday, December 29, 12 to 4 p.m. at the Audubon Center, Lefferts Historic House, free.
- New Year’s Eve Fireworks: Tuesday, December 31, 10:30 p.m.–Wednesday, January 1, 12:30 a.m.
- Grand Army Plaza, Free, RSVP here. Join Borough President Eric L. Adams and Prospect Park Alliance for Brooklyn's most spectacular New Year’s Eve Fireworks Celebration. This free event at Grand Army Plaza includes live entertainment followed by fireworks at the stroke of midnight.
