Sneaker Thief Steals Single Shoe In Subway Snatch-And-Grab: NYPD

PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A woman entered the subway with two shoes and left with one, after a man stole a sneaker off of her foot, police said.

The woman, 47, was walking up the staircase of the Grand Army Plaza subway station at about 11:05 a.m. on Wednesday when a man snuck up behind her and grabbed a sneaker off of her left foot, according to the NYPD.

Sneaker in hand, the man ran back down into the train station, jumped over a turnstile, and sped away on a train, police said.

The woman was not hurt during this theft; just down one sneaker, according to NYPD records.

Police described the sneaker thief as about 20-30 years old, 5-feet, 10-inches, and 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hat and vest and blue sweater and jeans with white sneakers, records show.

The NYPD released a photo of the man taken from the station — sneaker in hand — but as of Friday the sneaker thief remains on the loose, according to police.
