Vaping Medical Marijuana

Dry or Wet Plant Material: Which Is Better for Vaping? Doctors have suggested their patients vape medical marijuana instead of smoking.

Most people agree that fresh herbs are the best option to use when burning medical marijuana, but what about the moisture level of cannabis that is being used in a vaporizer? There are debates on how dry or wet your medicinal cannabis should be prior to use in your portable vape pen. Here we will examine which is better for use in your portable vaporizer.

Wet plant material is generally considered bad for several reasons. Water weight can take up a large percentage of freshly cultivated plant material – up to 75 percent of the total weight. In addition to holding a large amount of water, plant material that hasn’t been cured – that is, properly dried after harvest to let the sugars and chlorophyll break down – will not taste very appealing either. You will eventually get the desired results from wet plant material, but only once your vaporizer pen dries out the material with the first few pulls – and it will take a lot more product to get you there.

Most experts suggest that it is better to use properly dried out plant material for vaporizer pens. While the wetter plant material may seem “fresher,” a good volume of your material is water, meaning that you’re paying for a lot more water weight in your medicinal products. When using a dry herb vaporizer, grind your plant material as finely as possible to get the best results. The additional surface area you’re able to create with dry marijuana compared to a wet product allows the material to heat up more evenly and quickly. Dry plant material is also better for vaping because you’re only heating up the plant material itself, and not any of the other substances – water, chlorophyll, natural sugars – that are taking up space with wetter herbs.

With that in mind, we recommend vaping properly cured, dry plant material for your vape. Not only are dried herbs more potent, but it will grind up finer, allow for a better production of vapor and taste much better.
