PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — A woman is in serious condition after debris from a neighboring building fell down and hit her and two others as they hung out in a Fourth Avenue bar's courtyard, the New York Post reports.

Kathleen Keating, 33, was hit in the head on Sunday afternoon when wind blew debris from the scaffolding on the 12th-floor roof of the building next door into the courtyard of Mission Dolores, which sits between Carroll and President streets.

FDNY Deputy Chief James McNally told the Post that Keating was one of three women hit by the debris when they fell around 3:30 p.m. The other two women suffered minor injuries and all three were rushed to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.

Keating's father, Kevin, told the Post that his daughter was hit in the back of the head.

“She took the brunt of that hit to the back of her head,” he said.

His daughter, who goes by her middle name Haley, was given a CAT scan at the hospital and was put on a breathing tube, Kevin said. Keating flew from North Carolina to New York to be with his daughter.

The debris that fell on Kathleen was reportedly wood and steel from the scaffolding of the neighboring building, where workers were repointing bricks on the roof, McNally said.

Police and fire officials responded to the scene to secure the debris.
