1 Seriously Injured When Vehicle Strikes Tree In Bellport

The man was taken to Long Island Community Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Suffolk police said.

BELLPORT, NY — A man was seriously injured when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and it struck a tree in Bellport on Sunday night, Suffolk police said.

Lester Russell Jr. was driving a 2004 Dodge Durango southbound on Provost Avenue, between Patchogue and Atlantic Avenues, when he lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into a tree at about 11:30 p.m., according to police.

Russell Jr., 40, of Manorville, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
