UPDATE: Police ID 2 Women Hurt In Suffolk Crash

One woman is in critical condition following the crash Tuesday afternoon.

PATCHOGUE, NY – Police have identified the two women who were injured in a crash in Patchogue Tuesday afternoon. One of the women is in critical condition.

According to Suffolk Police, 68-year-old Diane Ruiz, of Holtsville, was driving a 1999 Saturn south on Old Medford Avenue at Woodside Avenue when her vehicle collided with a 2009 Chevrolet Equinox at about 1:45 p.m.

Ruiz, who was cut free from the Saturn by North Patchogue firefighters, was critically injured and transported by Patchogue Ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 50-year-old Nagwa Abrahim, of Patchogue was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A 2004 Ford F150 pickup truck was struck by the Saturn and Chevrolet following the initial collision. The male driver of that vehicle was not injured.

The Chevrolet and Saturn will be impounded for safety checks and the pickup truck was released to the owner.
