3 Hurt In North Bellport Crash

Two people were seriously injured, police said.

NORTH BELLPORT, NY — Three people were injured — two seriously — in a crash in North Bellport on Thursday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

At about 3:41 p.m., Michael C. Turner was driving a 2007 Ford Escape northbound on Station Road, police said, adding that the SUV "left the roadway and struck a tree near Post Avenue."

Turner, 47, of Shirley, and a 34-year-old woman riding in the front passenger seat were transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of "serious injuries," police said.

A 21-year-old man, who was riding in the backseat of the vehicle, was ejected during the crash, and was also transported to Long Island Community Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

The SUV was impounded for a safety check, police said. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the 5th Squad at 631-854-8552.
