Razor Blade Found In LI Trick-Or-Treater's Candy: Cops

Suffolk police are warning parents in the Stony Brook and Setauket area to be present as children unwrap and eat Halloween candy.

STONY BROOK, NY — A razor blade was found inside a 13-year-old trick or treater's candy on Long Island, police said.

The girl had "traded candy with her classmates at P.J. Gelinas Junior High School over the past few days, and she "found a blade in a mini 3Musketeers bar on Thursday night," police said.

In a photo supplied by police, there appears to be a razor blade inside a bar of chocolate that was broken open.

The teen's mother reported it around 7:35 p.m., police said.

Investigators are asking residents to make sure adults are present when children open candy they received from trick-or-treating, especially in Stony Brook and Setauket, Suffolk police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the 6h Precinct Crime Section at 631-854-8626, or anonymously to Crime Stoppers, a confidential police hotline, at 1-800-220-TIPS.
