3D Printed Home Built In Patchogue: PHOTOS
S-Squared 3D Printers says it has built the largest 3D printed concrete house in the world. Here's how nosy neighbors can look inside.

PATCHOGUE, NY — Patchogue is now home to a new 3D printed home — and it took fewer than 12 hours to complete. The 500-square-foot residence, 315 W. Main St., was built by S-Squared 3D Printers and its so-called "Autonomous Robotic Construction System."
The patent-pending technology allows multiple machines to work together to build a home with little or no human assistance, the company said in a news release.
"The 3D building process ushers in a new level of affordability for homeowners and businesses like never before," the company said. "In addition, this new technology can reduce construction costs by as much as 70 percent."

Construction costs go way down using the 3D printing technology and the speed with which it takes to build is much quicker, taking hours instead of weeks, months or years. The operation is also eco-friendly, as the technology uses about the same amount of electricity as a standard hair dryer.
The Main Street home is the largest 3D-printed concrete-built home in the world, the company said in a news release. Patch wasn't able to independently verify the claim, but the company said it contacted the builders of the other largest 3D concrete printed homes to verify.

While Patchogue might seem an odd destination for the "world's largest" 3D printed home, all S-Squared members are actually from Patchogue, Director of Operations Kirk Andersen told Patch on Thursday.
Nosy neighbors and anyone interested in seeing the home are welcome to visit Monday through Friday. Doors open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. Better hurry though, the home is just a demo — the company plans to knock it down in the next week or two and print a new one with a different design in a similar location.
Moreover, S-Squared 3D Printers homes won't stay in Patchogue for long, as the company has accepted a contract to build 80 homes in Kansas ranging from 12,000 square feet to 24,000 square feet, said Andersen.
