6 Taken To Area Hospitals After Gas Pump Heat Sensors Trigger White Powder On LI: Police

The people went to local hospitals for treatment of trouble breathing and eye irritation, Suffolk police say.

MEDFORD, NY โ€” Six people were taken to the hospital after heat sensors from gas pumps went off, triggering white powder to cool the pumps at Mobil Gas Station in Medford on Friday morning, Suffolk police said.

It happened at the Route 112 location at around 9:30 a.m., according to police.

The people went to local hospitals for treatment of trouble breathing and eye irritation, police said.
