94-Year-Old Driver Strikes, Kills Pedestrian in Shirley
Accident occurred Monday morning. No criminal charges have been filed.

A Shirley man died Monday after being struck by a car on the William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, police said.
According to police, Fred Mahnken, 79, was crossing William Floyd Parkway, near Lawrence Road, when he was struck by a 1999 Oldsmobile that was traveling northbound at about 11:20 a.m.
Mahnken was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the Oldsmobile, Aniello Scotti, 94, of Shirley, was not injured. His vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
The investigation is continuing and detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
