PATCHOGUE, NY — Patchogue native Christian Guardino has made it into the next round of "American Idol," getting enough votes after Monday's show to become one of the top ten finalists. Guardino sang "I'm Not the Only One" by Sam Smith on Monday's show in Los Angeles.

Guardino, 21, overcame a medical condition that caused legal blindness to pursue a career as a singer, appearing on an earlier season of "America's Got Talent" before auditioning for this season of "American Idol."

On Tuesday, he posted the news on his official Facebook page:

"I made it—top ten baby. For all of you who voted me through I can’t thank you enough and truly couldn’t ask for a greater affirmation. Being here on American Idol has been the journey of a lifetime so far and now we’re off to Disneyland."

Guardino will sing again next Sunday at 8 p.m.
