SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — The Suffolk County Department of Public Works plans to treat sections of Davis Park on Fire Island, as well as other areas on the mainland, this week as part of its ongoing annual efforts to control adult mosquitoes, officials said.
Davis Park will be treated on Wednesday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. All streets and boardwalks in the community will be sprayed on the ground with the ultra-low volume aerosol, Anvil.
Hedges Creek and Lyman Marsh will be treated by helicopter. A decision on Beaver Dam Creek is pending.
The treatments will run from Tuesday to Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A low-altitude helicopter will use granular pellet application of VectoPrime FG and Altosid.
For current and future notices and/or further information:
Although the chances of experiencing any health effects from spraying are low, the following steps will help reduce possible exposure to pesticides before, during or after spraying.
