There are plenty of quiet museums, parks, and other venues where you spend some quality time recognizing the historic 250th anniversary of the U.S. this weekend.
William Floyd Estate, Mastic Beach: Open to the public: 9 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, July 4. The recently-renovated Old Mastic House will showcase its 2026 exhibit, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States' founding. Visitors will see objects from all eras of the estate's history, from the colonial period until the 20th century.
Artists on the Lane, Bellport: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, July 4. It coincides with the Bellport-Brookhaven Historical Society Antique Show and Bellport Garden Club’s Annual Flower and Bake Sale.
Long Island Museum, Stony Brook: Open Friday and Sunday, closed Saturday
