Pedestrian, 18, Seriously Hurt In East Patchogue Crash: Police

It happened at around 7:14 a.m., Suffolk police say.

EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — Detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously hurt a man in East Patchogue Friday morning, Suffolk police said.

A 35-year-old man was driving a 2020 Hyundai Elantra westbound on Sunrise Highway when it struck a man, who was changing a vehicle tire on the shoulder of the road at 7:14 a.m., according to police.

The pedestrian, an 18-year-old from Mastic, was taken to NYU Langone – Suffolk in East Patchogue with serious injuries, police said.

The 35-year-old man, who is from Shirley, was not injured, according to police.

The Hyundai and Mangan's vehicle were both impounded for a safety check, police said.

The investigation is continuing with the 5th Squad in Patchogue.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to contact the 5th Squad at 631-854- 8552.
