Publisher And Former Bellport Village Mayor, Frank Trotta, Named Suffolk Credit Union's Chairman Of Board

BELLPORT, NY — Bellport businessman and former village mayor, Frank Trotta, was recently elected chairman of the Board of Directors of Suffolk Credit Union.

Trotta, a credit union member for more than 50 years and former vice chairman of the volunteer board, will lead its continued focus on strong governance, strategic oversight, member value, and service to communities across Long Island, officials said.

Phil Bauccio has been elected vice chairman, James Maggio has been elected treasurer, and Robert Spadaccini has been elected secretary. Together, the board officers and volunteer directors will continue guiding the credit union's long-term strategy and commitment to serving its members and communities.

Trotta brings decades of leadership experience in business, public service, and community engagement to the role. He is the owner of Fire News, a publication serving the fire and Emergency Medical Services community across Long Island and 17 states, and is also a principal in a family-owned real estate development company.

Her is a graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy, and earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Long Island University. His public service spans more than three decades, including 31 years as an elected official for the Village of Bellport, where he served 27 years as its longest-serving mayor.

He also serves as chaplain of the Bellport Fire Department and the South Country Ambulance Company, while supporting numerous charitable and civic organizations throughout the Island.

Trotta called his new position an honor.

Trotta succeeds Maggio, who served as chairman of the board for the past 12 years, played an instrumental role in guiding the credit union's growth and strategic direction, and will continue serving on the board as treasurer.

The credit union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative dedicated to helping Long Islanders build stronger financial futures.

Since its founding in 1967, the credit union has grown alongside the communities it serves while maintaining a longstanding commitment to the individuals who dedicate their lives to serving others — including firefighters, EMS personnel, law enforcement officers, military members, educators, and healthcare professionals, officials said.

It is guided by a volunteer board of directors that includes current and former public servants with backgrounds in fire service, law enforcement, emergency medical services, military service, and public service, according to officials.

It has locations across the county, including Medford, Port Jefferson, Riverhead, Islandia, Sayville, and Commack.
