1. NYU Langone deepens Suffolk footprint with $650 million hospital expansion in E. Patchogue (riverheadlocal.com) — A massive $650 million expansion of NYU Langone Hospital–Suffolk in East Patchogue will add a new seven-story pavilion, more beds, and over a thousand parking spaces, reshaping care for nearby communities including Patchogue. Officials say the project brings hundreds of construction and health care jobs, while NYU Langone continues opening new outpatient sites, including a state-of-the-art facility on Main Street in Patchogue.
2. BREAKING NEWS: Motorcyclist, 20, Killed in Medford Crash (southshorepress.com) — A 20-year-old man from Patchogue died after his motorcycle collided with a car turning left on Route 112 at Southaven Avenue in Medford, police said. He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Suffolk County Police are still investigating and asking any witnesses to contact Fifth Squad detectives.
3. Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Shirley Motor Vehicle Crash (longisland.com) — A Shirley man struck while crossing Montauk Highway was seriously injured and rushed to NYU Langone Hospital–Suffolk in Patchogue for treatment. Suffolk County Police impounded the driver's vehicle for a safety check and are asking anyone who saw the Friday night crash to contact Seventh Squad detectives with information.
4. Spotted lanternfly infestation concerns Long Island farmers (newsday.com) — Spotted lanternflies are being reported in much higher numbers from Patchogue through Calverton and Riverhead, worrying farmers about damage to grapevines and other crops. Experts call it a small but growing infestation and say a USDA-developed wasp that targets the pest could be released next year, while residents are urged to keep killing the insects locally.
