Businesses seek increased police presence (suffolkcountynews.net) — Patchogue business owners on Main Street are pressing for more visible police presence, citing vagrancy, harassment, and late-night disorder tied to the bar scene. Village and county officials say Patchogue already receives strong coverage but argue that bar owners must better manage patrons, while plans are forming for coordinated meetings with Suffolk police to address concerns.
   

2. Hospital expansion approved by town (suffolkcountynews.net) — A major $650 million expansion of NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk's Patchogue-based campus has been approved, bringing a new 144-bed pavilion and fully modernized single-patient rooms to Brookhaven residents. Local labor leaders and officials praised the project for boosting jobs and significantly improving access to up-to-date medical care for East Patchogue and surrounding communities.
   

3. Roger Daltrey, Ringo Starr and 34 more must-see fall concerts (newsday.com) — Several major acts are headed to Patchogue Theatre this fall, including Los Lonely Boys on Sept. 27, Ann Wilson of Heart on Oct. 4, Toad the Wet Sprocket on Oct. 24, Zebra on Nov. 13-14, and Blue Öyster Cult on Nov. 27. The broader roundup also lists dozens of other big-name shows across Long Island and nearby venues.
   

4. Veterans kayak 22 miles across Long Island Sound to raise awareness about PTSD and suicide (news12.com) — A Patchogue veteran joined 30 fellow veterans and first responders in a 22-mile kayak across Long Island Sound to spotlight PTSD and veteran suicide. The annual challenge, ending in Port Jefferson, honors those lost and urges struggling service members to seek help, highlighting several Long Island-based support resources for veterans and their families.
