BROOKHAVEN, NY — Friday marks the 25th anniversary of the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, in which close to 3,000 people died.
In remembrance of the solemn occasion, there are number of memorial events across Brookhaven Town:
- 8:30 am. to 3 p.m. at Stony Brook University for a Day of Remembrance, a day-long series of events.
- 9 to 9:30 a.m. with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Patchogue at 9-11 Memorial Park, located at Maiden Lane nd Cedar Avenue.
- 11:45 a.m. Ceremony of Remembrance at Brookhaven Town Hall, Independence Hill, Farmingville.
- 1 to 2 p.m. at the Congregational Church, Main Street Patchogue.
- 6:15 to 7 p.m. at the Patchogue Fire Department on Jennings Avenue, Patchogue.
- 6 to 8 p.m. at Mayor Jeanne Garant Harborfront Park — Pergola and Pier Area, Port Jefferson, where the 9/11 Memorial Eagle will be dedicated.
- 7 p.m. Remembrance Ceremony at the Mastic Fire Department, Mastic Road, Mastic.
- 7:30 p.m. Remembrance Ceremony at Bellport Village Dock, Bellport, with South Country Ambulance, and the Bellport, Brookhaven, and Hagerman fire departments, and VFW Post 8300.
