FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY — A man with no known last address was arrested on a charge of burglary after Nassau police say he was found inside a 60-year-old woman's home in Franklin Square on Saturday morning.
Fifth Precinct officers responding to a burglary in progress at a Jefferson Street home at around 9:30 a.m., found Suhaib Ayman Al Rifai, 32, sitting inside of the home, and he was arrested without incident, police said.
The 60-year-old woman's bedroom window was shattered, and there was additional miscellaneous damage throughout the home, according to police.
While waiting to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead, Al Rifai became combative and headbutted a Nassau County Sheriff's officer, causing pain and physical injury, police said.
He was taken to the 3rd Precinct in Williston Park to be processed for the additional charges, according to police.
Al Rifai is charged with second-degree burglary and assault, and third-degree assault, and will be arraigned on Monday.
