The Briarcliffe Bulldogs Top Mercy College on Grand Slam by Crystal Dunn

Briarcliffe Beat Mercy College 5-4.

The Briarcliffe Bulldogs took the last of four lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against NCAA Division II Mercy College, securing a 5-4 victory on Monday at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry NY.

The top of the first saw the Briarcliffe Bulldogs take an early lead, 1-0. The Briarcliffe Bulldogs’ rally started when Vikki Castillo doubled. A stolen base then moved Castillo from second to third. Emily Gaeta singled, plating Castillo.

The Briarcliffe Bulldogs were down 3-1 but took the lead in the sixth inning and held on for the victory. The Briarcliffe Bulldogs went up for good on an incredibly clutch GRAND SLAM home run by Crystal Dunn off Stephanie Kirgan with two outs and two strikes on her.

The Briarcliffe Bulldogs held off Mercy College, as Mercy was unable to overcome a two-run sixth inning deficit.

Mercy scored one run in the seventh but despite its efforts, but couldn’t finish the comeback.

Dunn racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Briarcliffe Bulldogs.
