Brookhaven Town Offers Free Spay/Neuter Program

Residents with feral cats or pit bull/pit bull mix dogs can receive a free procedure for their pet. Find out how to get the free surgery.

TOWN OF BROOKHAVEN, NY - The Town of Brookhaven re-launched its program that will allow residents to be able to spay or neuter any feral cats or pit bull/pit bull mix dogs.

The town animal shelter will be giving out vouchers to residents who live in the Town of Brookhaven and have feral cats or pit bulls that need to be altered. Surgeries are scheduled by appointment only.

For feral cats, residents will get two vouchers that can be redeemed at the Integrative Veterinary Therapies on 135 Middle Country Road in Ridge.

Residents must call the clinic to make an appointment once you have the vouchers.

Cats must be brought into the clinic in a trap on the day of surgery. The cats will be ear tipped at the time of surgery.

For pit bull or pit bull mix dogs, residents can get a voucher good for one spay or neuter procedure.

All dogs over the age of five are requested to get a free blood work screening at least one week before the scheduled surgery.

All surgical candidates five years or older must come to the Brookhaven Animal Shelter on a walk-in basis during normal business hours within those seven days before surgery to allow for the blood to betaken from your pet and sent out for evaluation.

The Brookhaven Animal Shelter and Adoption Center located at 300 Horseblock Road in Brookhaven. It is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
