'Buckethead' To Perform At Patchogue Theatre For The Performing Arts

The guitar virtuoso is known for wearing a bucket on his head, and a white face mask.

PATCHOGUE, NY — Guitar virtuoso and multi-instrumentalist, Buckethead, is set to perform at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts on May 19.

The artist released over 700 studio recordings — more than any other artist in history — with over 650 of those belonging to his "Pike" series and has appeared on more than 50 albums by other artists, according to a promotion for the event. His collaborations include Guns N' Roses, Iggy Pop, Brain, Viggo Mortensen, Travis Dickerson, DJ Disk, and Melissa Reese, to name a few, according to Wikipedia.

When performing in his theatrical persona, Buckethead, who was born Brian Patrick Carroll, traditionally wore a KFC bucket on his head, with an orange bumper sticker with the word, “funeral,” which is written in black block letters, along with a white face mask, but more recently, he has switched to a plain white bucket without the KFC logo, promoters say.

His live performances incorporate nunchucks, robot dancing, and toy trading, and his persona represents a character that is said to have been “raised by chickens,” whose mission in life is to alert the world to the ongoing chicken holocaust in fast-food restaurants around the globe, according to the promotion.

He has been voted by GuitarOne magazine as one of the “Top 10 Greatest Guitar Shredders of All Time."
