Survival Water Systems Workshop

Interested in wilderness survival, or ancestral tech?  Join Forgotten Skillz at this weekend's Wilderness Survival: Water Systems, focused on how humans have historically found water and made it safe to drink when conditions are uncertain, and how to apply that knowledge today. The emphasis is on clear thinking and good decision-making, not extreme or theatrical survival scenarios.

We’ll cover:
  • Identifying potential water sources
  • Assessing risk and contamination
  • Multiple methods for making water safe to drink
  • How these ideas show up across different cultures and environments

The workshop leads to a Level 1 – Survival Water Systems certification. You do not need to have taken the Wilderness Survival Basics class to participate. If you want a quick refresher on the mindset behind that course, you can read it here:

Locations & times this weekend:
  • Sands Point Preserve — 10:00 AM
  • Vanderbilt Museum (Centerport) — 2:00 PM
  • CEED (Brookhaven) — 6:00 PM

If the weather isn’t suitable for outdoor learning (cold, rain, snow), we’ll move indoors. The focus is on learning, not on enduring the elements.
