Captain Austin Roe Chapter C.A.R. attends Long Island District C.A.R. Meeting in Bethpage

Chapter representatives tour the Museum of American Armor and plan patriotic activities.

On August 21st, representatives from Captain Austin Roe Chapter C.A.R. attended The Long Island District Children of the American Revolution meeting at the Museum of American Armor in Bethpage, adjacent to the Old Bethpage Village Restoration.

A volunteer tour guide educated meeting attendees about the various World War II vehicles and memorabilia on exhibit there, including M8, M20, and Sherman tanks; a rare ambulance; fire trucks; an officer's car; an M3 Scout car; and a transport vehicle owned by a physician. The two-year-old museum is staffed by a mix of civilian and veteran volunteers.

After the tour, New York State Society C.A.R. President Abigail "Abbey" Mosher informed meeting attendees of her state project to raise $10,000 for the provision of a service/comfort dog to a veteran. Abbey also shared a pet-friendly craft—making cloth dog pull toys out of t-shirts.
